De Bruyne to resume first-team training within next few days

KEVIN DE BRUYNE is poised to resume training with Manchester City in the next few days.

The Belgian superstar, 27, is feeling his way back after injuring knee ligaments in training seven weeks ago.

De Bruyne has privately targeted the Manchester derby at the Etihad in early November as his possible comeback from injury.

And Pep Guardiola is happy with the progress his £54million midfielder is making - as he prepares to step up his comeback.

City have coped reasonably well without last season's player of the year - but his return will still be a massive boost.

Pep said: "Kevin is making the last steps and he'll be starting training in part in the next days.
"Everything is going well."

De Bruyne, Benjamin Mendy and Claudio Bravo are the only absentees as City prepare for a key week both at home and in Europe.

France star Mendy had been given a rocket from Guardiola for turning up late for treatment on his foot injury.

The France international had attended the Anthony Joshua fight at Wembley on Saturday night.

And it meant the defender did not make his appointment at the City Football Academy the following day until much later.
